You can use Game Defragment to rearrange the game files stored on the disk to occupy contiguous storage locations, a technique called defragmentation. Disk defragmentation minimizes head travel; this reduces the time it takes to read and write files to the disk, thus improving games' startup and loading performance.
Unlike the default Windows disk defragmentation utility, Game Defragment provides the option to defrag specific folders, like game folders; this speeds up the defragmentation process and ensures that only the necessary files are processed.
DO NOT defrag games stored on solid-state drives (SSD) as it may reduce the drive lifespan.
To use Game Defragment feature, navigate to My Games and choose the game you wish to defragment. Right-click on the game and select Defrag Game Files. The Game Defragment dialog box will appear and begin analyzing the selected game files to determine the level of fragmentation. Once this is complete, the defragmentation process will commence.
The defragmentation process may take several minutes depending on the file's size, number, and degree of fragmentation.
When the game defragmentation process is completed, Game Fire will display a report about the number of files processed, files defragmented, and the level of fragmentation.
